"Never in a million years did I think my kidneys were to blame," he said.

Man in hospital bed

You’re exhausted. You’re getting cramps. You’re short of breath.

‍

But life is busy, so you keep going.

‍

That was the reality for Nick Angell, a father of three who initially thought his symptoms were simply tiredness or part of getting older. Then, after nearly collapsing at work, he discovered something much more serious was happening. He was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, an autoimmune kidney disease.

‍

His story highlights something we think about deeply at mOI Health: how difficult it can be to see the bigger picture when you’re experiencing symptoms one day at a time.

‍

A symptom starts. Another appears weeks later. Something changes. You adapt. Months later, you’re sitting in an appointment trying to remember exactly what happened, when it started, how often it happened and whether anything else changed at the same time.

‍

Your health story becomes scattered across memories, notes, appointments and different systems.

‍

This is one of the reasons we’re building mOI.

‍

mOI gives people living with complex and autoimmune health conditions a place to bring their health journey together:

- from symptoms and medications to treatments

- diagnoses and appointments, helping build a clearer picture of what’s happening over time.

‍

Not to diagnose what a symptom means, but to help you document your experience, notice changes and have more informed conversations about your health.

‍

Because sometimes the bigger picture isn’t found in one symptom.

It’s in how the pieces connect.
