I had 11 years of chemotherapy for a cancer I didn’t have

Imagine spending 11 years being treated for a condition you never had.

‍

Becky Jones was just 21 when she was told she had a terminal brain tumour and only months to live.

‍

For the next 11 years, chemotherapy became part of her life.

‍

Then she learned she had never had brain cancer.

‍

According to the BBC, what had been identified as cancer was actually inflammation of the brain, and Becky is now one of more than 40 patients taking legal action over prolonged or unnecessary cancer treatment.

‍

Her story is an extreme and deeply difficult example, but it raises a much wider question:

‍

How do we make sure we’re seeing the whole health picture?

‍

A diagnosis can shape years of someone’s life. But health is rarely just one appointment, one scan, one symptom or one result.

Symptoms evolve. New information emerges. Treatments change. And sometimes, the pieces of the story need to be looked at again.

‍

At mOI, we believe people should be able to see and understand their health journey over time, bringing symptoms, medications, diagnoses, appointments, test results and changes together in one place.

‍

Not to replace clinical expertise, but to help people have a clearer record of their own health story and more informed conversations with the professionals supporting them.

‍

💡 Because asking questions matters.

💡 Keeping track matters.

💡 And your health story deserves to be seen as a whole.
